Description
The ZULU6 HDX Marine 16x42 is the on-the-water version of Sig Sauer's image stabilized binocular. Optically and mechanically it follows the standard ZULU6 HDX 16x42, but the body is wrapped in high-visibility orange rubber armor and it ships with a hi-vis floating neck strap. Sig's Optical Image Stabilization cancels hand shake and boat motion, so 16x magnification stays usable without a tripod or a rest.
Stabilization has two modes. Scan is the default and suits sweeping a coastline or horizon. Switching the power off and on again within two seconds selects Target mode, which adds up to 50 percent more stabilization for studying a buoy, a vessel or wildlife. The HDX glass and LensArmor, LenShield and SpectraCoat coatings are built to keep the view bright and to cut glare in harsh light.
At 21.9 ounces, this is a much lighter binocular than the 50mm ZULU6 HDX PRO models, and it runs for about 30 hours on a single AA battery. The housing is IPX7 waterproof and fogproof, with twist-up eyecups and a plus or minus 3 diopter adjustment. This part number includes a foam carrying case, not the Pelican case kit sold under a separate part number.
