Description
Solar is the version you buy when charging is the problem. The Pro Solar uses a sunlight visible transflective memory in pixel display instead of AMOLED, which is dimmer indoors but gets more readable the harder the sun hits it, and it sips power. Combine that with the solar charging lens and the 51 mm case runs up to 30 days in smartwatch mode on its own, or up to 57 days with solar exposure. The 47 mm case does 21 days, or 34 with solar.
Everything around the display is the same Pro hardware. The case and bezel are machined titanium, the lens is sapphire, the buttons are leakproof metal, and the whole thing is dive rated and tested to U.S. military standards for thermal, shock and water resistance. The LED flashlight adds red and green modes alongside white, which matters if you are trying to preserve night vision or read a map without lighting up the whole camp.
Order the inReach configuration and you get both LTE and satellite radios. On LTE you can place and take voice calls and send messages through the Garmin Messenger app without carrying your phone. Off grid, satellite handles message check ins, weather forecasts and an interactive SOS staffed around the clock by the Garmin Response team. Plans activate through Garmin directly, not a cellular carrier.
Training and navigation carry over from the rest of the fēnix 9 Pro line: more than 100 activity profiles, enhanced stamina metrics, training readiness, endurance score, hill score and daily suggested workouts, plus multicontinent TopoActive mapping with dynamic round trip routing, NextFork junction guidance, Up Ahead course markers and SkiView resort maps.
