Description
The Mini Barrage takes almost nothing away from the full-size version except length. Same AXIS Assist spring, same integrated safety, same Valox scales and split-arrow clip, in a package that closes at 4 inches and weighs just under three and a half ounces.
For a lot of buyers this is the more practical of the two. The assisted opening is the reason people want a Barrage in the first place, and the 585 lets you keep it in a size that clears a three inch blade limit at work. The 154CM blade is thinner here at 0.1 inch, which makes it a slightly better slicer than its bigger sibling.

Common Questions
Is this an automatic knife?
No. It is spring assisted. You start the blade yourself with the thumb stud and the spring finishes the motion, and there is no firing button. Assisted openers are treated differently from automatics in most places, but knife laws vary by state and city, so check your local rules before carrying.
Mini Barrage or full-size 580?
The 585 is 0.69 inch shorter in the blade, almost an ounce lighter and slimmer in the hand. Take it if you need to stay under three inches or want less bulk on the belt. Take the 580 for more reach and a stouter blade.
