Description
The SOCP Dagger was designed with Greg Thompson for the US Army's Special Operations Combatives Program, and it is not a utility knife. The finger ring lets you retain the blade while your hand is still doing other things, which is the entire point of the design. Everything else follows from that: one piece of 440C, no folding mechanism, no scales, minimal weight and a profile flat enough to carry almost anywhere.
440C at 58-60 HRC is the right choice here. It is tough, corrosion-resistant and easy to maintain, which matters more than peak edge retention on a knife that spends most of its life carried and not cut with.

Is this a good everyday utility knife?
No, and it is not meant to be. The thick stock, spear point and finger ring are all defensive design choices. For opening boxes and cutting cord, almost any folder in the Benchmade line will serve you better.
What is the difference between the SOCP Dagger and the SOCP Combo?
The Combo adds a matching non-sharpened trainer so you can practise the retention and deployment techniques safely, and comes with a sand MOLLE sheath rather than black.
