Description
The ZULU6 HDX PRO Marine 18x50 is the top model in Sig Sauer's marine line of image stabilized binoculars. It combines 18x magnification and 50mm objectives with gyro-based optical stabilization, so details such as channel markers, vessel names and distant shoreline stay readable from a moving deck. Sig built it on the ZULU6 HDX PRO platform and finished it in high-visibility orange rubber armor.
Compared with the standard ZULU6 HDX Marine 16x42, the PRO steps up to larger objectives, the HDX PRO glass and coating package, and OmniScan stabilization. OmniScan reads movement with a digital accelerometer and adjusts the amount of correction on its own, with no modes to switch. The view is wide for this much power, with a 66.6 degree apparent field. Two AA batteries provide about 40 hours of run time.
The Marine designation refers to how this model is outfitted. Sig lists the orange armor, a floating hi-vis neck strap, a custom waterproof Pelican case and a flip-back objective cover with a polarized lens. It does not have a compass or ranging reticle. The binocular is IPX7 waterproof and fogproof, has twist-up eyecups and a plus or minus 3 diopter, and can be mounted on a tripod with an adapter sold separately.
