Description
The Mini Osborne answers the same question the Mini Bugout does. Plenty of people wanted the 940 but found a 3.4 inch blade more knife than their day actually required, or worked somewhere that draws the line at three inches. Benchmade kept the geometry and the lock and took roughly half an inch out of the blade and handle.
Both builds share the same frame at 6.76 inches open and 3.84 inches closed. The 945 uses billet aluminum in the classic green, the 945BK-1 uses black G10 with a blue base layer that shows through the chamfers. The aluminum version is the lighter of the two despite being the more premium build.

945 or the full-size 940?
Take the 945 if you want to stay under a three inch blade limit or found the 940 slightly long for daily carry. Take the 940 if you have larger hands or regularly cut thicker material.
Why is the aluminum model lighter than the G10?
The 945 uses machined billet aluminum with material removed where it is not needed, finishing at 2 oz and 0.43 inch thick. The 945BK-1 uses solid G10 slabs, which come out slightly heavier at 2.19 oz despite a thinner 0.41 inch handle.
